"What happens when people open their hearts?"
"They get better."
— Haruki Murakami (@_harukimurakami) January 8, 2016
I suggest you to listen to this song at various points during the course and see how your feelings change with it.

Recommended further reading (after this course ends):
1. The Wind Up Bird Chronicle (quite surreal, but fairly easy to follow. Considered his best book)
2. Kafka on the Shore (very surreal, but still easy to follow. Some also consider this his best)
3. 1Q84 (easy to follow, and easy to read. His longest most recent book)
4. South of The Border, West of the Sun (considered a good starting point novel)
5. After Dark (short, and easy to follow)

Trigger warnings. Appropriate or not?
My opinion is at university level trigger warnings are not necessary, but I would still like to warn students that some parts of the book have strong sexual imagery. You are welcome to leave the classroom during these parts of the book. There will be no questions in the final exam on the overtly sexual parts.
