In today's class we:
- Went through some course information including rules and information related to the course
- Talked about the number of words in the English language (1,000,000+)
- Did an exercise on word trees (p5) and word forks (p5)
- Talked about some random English language facts (see here for more. Warning...I can not verify all of the ones on the link are true!)
- Looked at how the Oxford English Dictionary is always changing and being updated with NEW words and REVISIONS of old words e.g.
-elephant- 'an elephant in the room'
-crunk- a type of hip-hop crunk
-bahookie - Scottish slang for a person's buttocks
-OMG- internet slang for 'oh my god'
-LOL- internet slang for 'laughing out loud'
- Did a video exercise based on Series 1 Episode 5 of The Ricky Gervais Show. (See below for target vocabulary and the meanings)
- Arranged the groups

- Did a sentence writing exercise using some random nouns from the list too http://esl.about.com/library/vocabulary/bl850_nouns1.htm
- Created the groups
- Looked at the common problems of 'Thai-English' (Thinglish)
