Affirmative Action - Guaranteeing a certain % of successful applicants must be a certain race/culture/gender
Example 50% of all students must not be Asian at an American University e.g. Harvard
Example 10% of all workers at Reuters must be from African countries
Positives
-It could protect local rights.
-The benefits for people who would unfairly not get opportunity.
-Helps minorities
-Brings a spotlight to inequality
Negatives
-Companies complaining of enforced rules and HR Issues (Human Resource Issues)
-It is a form of discrimination ’positive discrimination’. A quota system.
-Losing more skilled workers for companies
-Lose profit?
-Could encourage racial division
