Coursework
Coursework is all due in on the final class (May 6th). You should attach it all together with your group number and names clearly shown on the front. Staple it together. It will count as 20% of your grade.
*Part 1
Create a 10 box comic strip summarising the first 2 chapters of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. It should be in chronological order. Text and pictures should be used. It is up to you how you interpret the idea (whether you use hand drawings, photos or cut-ups). Try to use between 1-3 pages of A4 paper maximum. Examples of comic book styles (you can use speech and text boxes in each of your 10 boxes):
*Part 2
Write 2 additional entries into Anne Frank's diary as if she was alive today (but still aged 14). Consider the style of writing in her diary from the 1940s and analyse the themes and how her feelings might (or might not) be different if she was alive today
*Part 3
Draw your artistic interpretation of the character of Queequeg in Moby Dick based on his introduction at The Spouter Inn Chapter (p46) using labels and information boxes relating to his description/character in the chapter. You can add information if you think it relates to characteristics described in the chapter
*Part 4
Create a “family tree of events” based on what has happened in The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle in the whole of book 1. You can focus on different characters as the elements of the tree with the different events that have occurred as the branches between the leaves. It is recommended to be A3 size. Below is an example of an outline. You should design YOUR OWN chart containing all characters and the main events of the story. Think of it as a summary.
