• Discussed the video episode from the previous class "Fawlty Towers" (episode 'Basil The Rat')
  
• Looked at common spellings for different vowel sounds and the variations in them
  
• Introduced 3 consonant sounds:        /ʃ / shirt               AND               /dʒ/   job/general               AND                 /tʃ / chair
  
• Did exercises 12.1-12.2
  
• Translated some IPA sentences into real sentences
  
• Discussed the 'Mancunian accent'
  
• Watched a video based on the Mancunian accent  from the TV show 'An Idiot Abroad' (in China)
  
• Introduced 3 new vowel sounds:       /əʊ/  boat               AND                /ɒ/   stop/want                  AND                 /ɜː/  shirt 
  
• Did a word separating exercise based on these new vowels
  
• Did exercise 16.2
  
• Saw how this website is a good way to write IPA symbols down  http://ipa.typeit.org/full/
• Had Quiz 2
  
• Watched a video based on American v British pronunciation to compare the two
